In line with your editor’s friend’s efforts to increase her LinkedIn “Followers,” notwithstanding LinkedIn aims at trying to impose restrictions on networking, she decided to pursue Option C: Insert weekly topical articles to encourage readers to become followers. However, within that choice, it seemed appropriate for her to consider a range of sub-options to Option C, so as to unearth other optimum approaches to maximizing “follower” momentum. She was therefore encouraged to pursue the initial “question-technique” once more to flush out those likely new possibilities.
Her new sub-option question came as follows: “What is my friend’s best way to sustain LinkedIn “Follower” momentum, through Option C – Insert weekly articles to invite followers; considering that 1) she has already invested considerable time-effort into LinkedIn, 2) LinkedIn imposes “unknown” weekly connect quotas, 3) it is an optimum reader forum, and 4) it requires an extra effort approach to justify Premium fees?” It was again appropriate to stick with only four considerations to reduce the complexity of any eventual decision, when the moment arrives: despite there being other possibilities out there.
She then proceeded to conjure-up two fresh appropriate yin and yang “bookends”,as these would help keep her intuitive mind focused. Bookends such as these are vital for preventing our fertile intuitive minds from wandering and losing concentration. We are mostly unaware of how powerfully valuable but foot-loose our intuition can be unless we can keep it properly focused on such occasions.
Two bookends that immediately came to her mind were: “Keep plodding forward for time being” – it will impede strong momentum;and “Push on with hawkish follower campaign regardless” – likely to be banned. You will note the italicized detractors associated with these least likely options, therefore putting these out of consideration. Even so, these bookends will now again nudge her intuitive thinking into high gear to find more promising options – see ourLatest Worked Example.
It was then appropriate for her to come up with at least five new realistic sub-options, although she will ultimately come up with six after a decent amount of time. She would then be positioned to pursue emotional distancing, which is a form of objective thinking, before making her choice sometime after that …perhaps after 2 hours, later in that day, or first thing the following morning. You can replace her proposed sub-options with any of your own.
While they were all quite pertinent, she was now particularly drawn to – Sub-Option BB: Insert ‘Follower’ instead of ‘Message’ button to encourage ‘followers’. This relates to adjusting her preferences within her LinkedIn profile. Itseemed to offer the most immediate promise for building ongoing momentum. She can then always consider her other possibilities at a later date.
