Am now making steady progress on 2-3 fronts toward eventual successful book promotion, although am feeling some fatigue from the constant focus and effort. Since it’s unlikely there will be a quick solution toward securing a publisher, it will be imperative to sustain balance and focus over some period of time to reach that milestone. It’s therefore imperative to pursue an optimum ‘balancing’ strategy to outlast the course. So it’s now important to identify an appropriate way forward.
After due thought, the following question became apparent: “What key option should I consider to remain balanced while pursuing optimum book promotion strategy; considering 1) don’t have many years left, 2) the odds of success are tough, 3) limited funding options, and 4) am determined to succeed?” I restricted myself to four key considerations that are likely to have the most impact on my optimum choice. By holding it to four, it reduces the complexity of my decision-making when the moment arrives: despite there being other possible considerations.
This now required creating two apropos yin and yang “bookends,”as these will help my intuitive mind to remain focused. Bookends such as these are vital for preventing our fertile intuitive minds from wandering and losing concentration. We are mostly unaware of how powerfully valuable but foot-loose our intuition can be unless we can properly keep it focused.
The two bookends that came to mind were: “Relax and take each day as it comes” –likely lose tempo and focus, and “Invite someone else to take on book project,” don’t have resources to support. We italicized detractors associated with these least likely options. Even so, they would nudge my intuitive thinking into high gear – see ourLatest Worked Example.
I then challenged myself to produce at least five realistic options and left open the prospect of finding a sixth within short order. I then pursued emotional distancing, which is a form of objective thinking, before making my choice sometime after that …perhaps after 2 hours, later in that day, or first thing the following morning. You can replace my proposed options with any of your own. You will note one of my options is: Option B – Take a week R&R break in Sept 2020.
In fact, I decided to sleep on the five options with a view to finding a sixth and then make a choice first thing the following morning. From there, I will either put together an action initiative, while things are still fresh, or pursue Peeling the Onion for further clarity of the way forward.
